Battle of the Bands returns for the Grand Final on Thursday 9th April, with guest judges Pet Needs.

Six bands will battle head-to-head to be crowned the ultimate winner. The running order will be drawn randomly on the night.

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:45 PM (No under 18s allowed after 9:00 PM)

Ticket Price: £4 (includes £1 donation to the Brightlingsea Free Festival)

Overview:

TWM Live invites artists under 18 to participate in this exciting nationwide event as part of Independent Venue Week 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians to gain exposure and showcase their talents in a supportive environment.

Event Structure:

Each heat will feature one of Colchester’s local bands hosting the night and closing with a small set.

Prize Information:

– 1st Place: Opens the stage at the Brightlingsea Free Festival (up to 4,000 attendees), receives 60% of door money (after donation), a full day in the studio, and a mixed and mastered single at Black Cactus Studio.

– 2nd Place: 30% of door money.

– 3rd Place: 10% of door money.

– Wild Card: An additional band will be selected to perform at Meff Fest 3, a local punk festival.

Requirements:

All bands must arrive by 5PM. A random draw will determine performance order. Backline equipment will be provided, including a drum kit, guitar amps, and a bass amp.

Welfare Policy:

The safety of young attendees is paramount. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. A strict Challenge 25 policy will be enforced at the door, and first aid-trained staff will be present.

Accessibility:

The venue is on the top floor with no lift access, requiring five short flights of stairs.

Refund Policy:

No refunds will be processed within 7 days of the event.
