Food Service Manager
Job description
We are looking for an experienced Food Service Manager to join our management team at Three Wise Monkeys Colchester.
Our venue is known for its authentic smokehouse experience. Food is served throughout the day with a focus on slow-cooked, smoked American barbeque-style food and gourmet burgers using local produce at the heart of everything we do. We have an excellent reputation for hosting Taster Evenings every month on our restaurant floor, as well as private functions and corporate team days.
We are looking for a Food Service Manager with a positive personality who can build an instant rapport with our customers and lead the team to deliver exceptional standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assist the General Manager in achieving strong gross profit margins through valuable training and ongoing staff management.
- Ensure revenue growth by running an efficient food service and working closely with our full-time promotions team.
- Assist the General Manager in maintaining labour costs by creating effective schedules.
- Manage reservations and customers enquires
- Support and work with the management team for the purpose of improving the running of the food service and upkeep of the buildings.
- Knowledgeable on all allergens and current food handling and safety regulations.
- Recruiting, training and developing staff members
- Conduct performance reviews and one to ones with team members.
- Guarantee all aspects of health and safety, compliance and licensing are adhered to.
- Liaising with suppliers and contractors
- Be at the forefront of staff motivation and morale
- Daily accounting duties
Qualities and experience that you will have:
- Restaurant Management minimum 3 years’ experience
- Excellent communication skills
- A strong motivator and team leader
- The highest attention to detail
- Have excellent organisational skills with clear, distinct briefing and delegation skills

Job description
We are seeking weekend part time front of house team members to work for us.
You must be able to work Friday and Saturday nights.
This role is for over 18’s only and you must be able to safely travel to and from the venue at unsociable hours.
Our venue is known for its vibrant atmosphere, huge range of quality beers and a passionate focus on smoked American-style barbecue and burgers. The four story venue in Colchester hosts a large range of events, functions and live music performances throughout. We also house a thriving basement gin bar and a restaurant floor.
We are on the lookout for passionate team members wanting to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.
Main responsibilities include:
- Greeting guests and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Working on the bar serving drinks
- Gaining good knowledge of our products, so you can make recommendations (e.g. Crafts beers, Wines, Spirits and Cocktails)
- Taking accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software, order pads or by memorisation
- Gaining good knowledge of our food menu to provide detailed information when asked (e.g. ingredients or food allergies)
- Adhere to all Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Licensing laws
- Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and safety
- Other general duties e.g. changing barrels, stocking up etc.
Ideally we would like you to have experience of working under pressure including managing a workload at busy times in the hospitality industry.
