Sous Chef
We are looking for an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
The right candidate will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain and build upon the excellent reputation our venue has.
Our restaurant is known for its authentic smokehouse experience. Food is served throughout the day with a focus on slow-cooked, smoked American barbeque-style food and gourmet burgers using local produce at the heart of everything we do. We have an excellent reputation for hosting Taster Evenings every month on our restaurant floor, as well as private functions and corporate team days, and our recently launched Bottomless BBQ dining experience.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with the Head chef and able to run the kitchen in his/her absence
  • Experience in menu development & costings
  • Plan and take part in monthly taster nights
  • GP, wastage control & H&S monitoring
  • Producing new dishes and menu ideas
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with FOH team and developing junior members in the kitchen
Qualities and experience that you will have:
  • Minimum 2 years Sous Chef experience
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
  • Leadership skills
  • Experience of working under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • Passion and enthusiasm for BBQ foods
  • Ability to work well in a team

The successful candidate will be competent working with fresh meats and produce. Have a passion for BBQ style food and have some experience working with smokers.
Head Chef

An exciting opportunity to join our business as Head Chef in Colchester.

We are a growing independent business with venues in Ipswich and Colchester.

Our restaurant is known for its authentic smokehouse experience. Food is served throughout the day with a focus on slow-cooked, smoked American barbeque-style food and gourmet burgers using local produce at the heart of everything we do.

We have an excellent reputation for hosting Taster Evenings every month on our restaurant floor, as well as private functions and corporate team days.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Menu building/design
  • Maintain labour costs by creating effective schedules
  • Health and Hygiene Management
  • Stock control
  • Liaising with suppliers and contractors
  • Leading the kitchen during service
  • Recruiting, training, and developing staff members
  • Conduct performance reviews and one to one’s for team members
  • Liaising with management

Requirements

  • Proven experience as head chef, 3 years
  • Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management
  • Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £35,490.00 per year
