TWM Live formally invites artists under 18 to participate in our upcoming Battle of the Bands event at Three Wise Monkeys, part of Independent Venue Week 2025, This nationwide event offers incredible exposure for young musicians.

We believe our local area is brimming with talented young artists who can greatly benefit from this opportunity to showcase their skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Each heat  will have one of Colchester’s finest local band to host the night and play a small set to close the night.

Guest Band: Rad Pitt

– Heat 1: Monday, 27th January 2025

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:45 PM (please note there will be no under 18s in the venue past 9:00 PM)
Venue:Three Wise Monkeys, Colchester
Ticket Price: £4 (with a £1 donation to the Brightlingsea Free Festival, a community-run festival)

All attendees will require a ticket to control numbers in the venue, except for band members. We recommend getting a pre sale ticket in case these sell out.

We encourage artists to participate by forming a band or supporting individual students interested in showcasing their musical talents. The event welcomes all genres of music, and we look forward to diverse performances. Each act will perform two songs, which can be originals or covers.

Please note that you must be available on both dates, as the selection of which date you perform will be random. If you make it to the final, you will be asked to perform three songs, one of which must be an original.

Please make sure you buy the ticket for the correct lineup once you know which bands are playing on what days. Keep an eye on the website and these pages for updates.

**Prize Information:**
The first-place winner will open the stage at the Brighlingsea Free Festival on Saturday, with an expected attendance of up to 4,000 people.

Winners will receive 60% of the total door money (after the £1 donation to the festival), a full day in the studio, and a fully mixed and mastered single at Black Cactus Studio. Second place will receive 30% of the overall door money, and third place will receive 10%.

Bands will be required to arrive at 5 PM and will be drawn at random to line check and play tracks.

Backline will be supplied. You will be requested to use this unless agreed otherwise:
– Drum kit
– 2 x guitar amps
– Bass amp
– Keyboard and amp

We will reply to all acts in early January 2025 to confirm spaces.

Welfare Policy:
The welfare of young people is our priority at these events. All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult responsible for them, or entry will be refused. There will be a strict Challenge 25 policy at the door, and coded wristbands will be issued.

If anyone is deemed underage and suspected to have consumed alcohol, Twm and their staff reserve the right to refuse entry without a refund. First aid-trained local teaching staff will be on site to monitor the event.

Please note that Three Wise Monkeys and Black Cactus Studio take no profit from door sales.
